This is a demonstration of some of the capabilities of the Peak Atlas DCA Pro (model DCA75) made by Peak Electronic Design Ltd in the UK.

A selection of parts is shown being tested here, there are many more parts that can be tested and there are indeed some parts that can’t currently be tested.

The DCA Pro adds considerable features to the capabilities of the popular DCA55, such as USB connectivity (allowing simple low current, low voltage curve tracing), a graphic screen (showing component symbols) and an enhanced analysis portfolio.

Some types of parts that we know that it can’t currently analyse (as of Feb 2013) include unijunction transistors, triacs and thyristors that need more than 10mA, and voltage regulators that are not stable without their decoupling components. Additionally, Zener support extends to nearly 12V and voltage regulator support extends to around 8V.

The DCA Pro comes with an alkaline AAA battery, comprehensive printed user guide, USB cable and PC software on a Peak USB flash drive. PC software updates and instrument firmware updates are provided frequently offering continual enhancements, new features, extra component support, new curve types and other improvements. Power is provided by single internal AAA cell and/or USB power.
